The main advantages of SPEKTRA Level Medium Light levelling compound

Ergonomic

User friendly
Dispersion levelling compounds are usually available in 25 kg pails. Mineral levelling compounds have a similar mass when they are prepared for use. Any painter is sure to agree that the application, smoothing and sanding of levelling compound is one of the most difficult tasks in their business. Long hours of work can result not only in exhaustion but also permanent damage to the shoulders and spine. To reduce this harmful impact on health, Helios has developed SPEKTRA Level Medium Light, which contains a specific proportion of light fillers. The compound density has been decreased from 1.7 kg/l to about 1.2 kg/l, resulting in 30% lower mass at the same volume. A painter thus carries 17 kg instead of 25 kg in the pail, with significantly less strain on the arms, shoulder joints and spine. Another important advantage besides low mass is the ease of application, smoothing and sanding. In terms of particle size and application properties, SPEKTRA Level Medium Light is quite comparable to the standard levelling compound, SPEKTRA Level Medium. Being very light, it is even easier to stretch and smoothen.

Construction

Smaller load on wall surfaces
SPEKTRA Level Medium Light is very light, so its load on wall surfaces is significantly smaller. For standard levelling compounds, consumption is approximately 1.5 to 2 kg/m2, but for SPEKTRA Level Medium Light it is approximately 0.9 – 1.3 kg/m2. It also has better yield, given that one pail SPEKTRA Level Medium Light can be used to level up to 30% larger surfaces (depending on application thickness and substrate flatness) than standard levelling compounds.

Environmental

Smaller greenhouse gas emissions and lower energy product consumption
A comparison of the annual amounts fuel used by a truck to transport standard or lightweight levelling compounds shows that the transportation of lightweight compound requires 2800-3600 l less fuel. This means 8.6 tons lower CO2 emissions on average. It takes 430 trees to use up this amount of CO2 (1 tree absorbs approximately 20 kg CO2/year). The lower weight also reduces the consumption of electricity for its production and internal transport with forklifts. It is also worth noting that almost 90% of the raw materials used are locally sourced, which results in shorter distances for their transport to the factory site and lower CO2 emissions. At the same time, the use of local materials is how we support Slovenian industry.

Based on all of the above environmental and ergonomic advantages of the SPEKTRA Level Medium Light levelling compound, HELIOS TBLUS d.o.o. won the environmentally friendly product Finalist award in the competition for environmentally friendly products and services held every year by the Finance newspaper and Eco Fund, Slovenian Environmental Public Fund. This award validates the company’s strategic focus on developing and producing sustainability-oriented coatings.
