Environmentally friendly protection with BIOHEL oil

The new generation of the BIO IMPREGNOL RESIST 2C natural coating from the BIOHEL brand does not affect nature, as it is based on flaxseed oil, which is not modified or chemically altered. Natural vegetable waxes are added to the oil, so the coating contains 97% natural, unprocessed raw materials and is therefore environmentally friendly.

The remaining 3% consist of non-hazardous additives neccessary for accelerated drying and stability in packaging. For better performance, the product consists of two components; for quicker drying and better resistance it should be mixed before use with BIO IMPREGNOL ACCELERATOR in a ratio of 3A:1B. Neither the oil nor the accelerator contain solvents, so the product is safe to use indoors and has a pleasant scent of oils from natural plant extracts.

Lower consumption

The performance of most oils on the market is based on the principle of good penetration of oil into the empty wood structure, where it saturates it and then strengthens it by bonding it via oxygen bridges, thus preventing the ingress of water into the wood. In this way the wood is deeply saturated, but the surface is not resistant, as there is only a little oil on the surface (the excess oil having been completely wiped off). You have certainly already seen the wood defects that occur when water comes into contact with such a surface - white water stains, white circles from glasses, etc. The wood fibres, which are curved on the surface, become wet, swell and subsequently lift after about 5-15 minutes. As there is not enough oil to fix them, this movement of the fibres becomes visible as a whitish stain that remains after drying.

As a result, you have no choice but to restore the surface by sanding and oiling again. With the new generation of 2K oils, the accelerator helps the oil chemically bind to the surface of the wood and create a powerful bond, so there is no need for deep saturation. Consumption is therefore lower, at a modest 10 – 20 g/m2 when appropriately applied. The recommended application is machine rubbing/polishing with a white scotch brite polishing wheel attached to a rotary orbital sander. This way, there is almost no oil loss, as the polishing spreads the oil evenly across the surface, so that at the end you simply level the surface with a cloth. A conventional application of the oil with a cloth is also possible, where part of the oil is discarded by wiping off the excess. Prior to the application, we recommend sanding the surface with P120 sandpaper, quality dust removal and cleaning the surface with the BIO IMPREGNOL CLEANER cleaner, to statically remove any residual wood dust that could reduce the quality of the oil’s bond to the wood.

A single coat is sufficient for protection

The oil molecularly binds to the wood during the first application, so a second coat is not at all necessary. If you still do apply a second coat, the appearance of the surface remains matt and rich. The oil dries for 24 hours, after which it can already be used, but it requires a week to fully cure and gain its full resistance. A surface protected in this way is resistant to spilled water, red wine, coffee and other drinks for at least one hour. It is also resistant to heat (hot pot) and has no unpleasant odours. The oiled surfaces can come into contact with foodstuffs, as evidenced by the obtained EU certificate. It can also be dyed by request into one of the 12 shades from the BIO MIX colour chart.

One single coat of the BIO IMPREGNOL RESIST 2C oil protects the wood better than several coats of most oils on the market, and you don’t have to compromise with nature as the product is almost entirely natural and ecologically bio-degradable. This is an oil that helps you coexist with nature, at the same time giving you the resistance you expect.
