Superior protection and decoration of floor surfaces with a very short installation time.

The use of conventional floor coatings is often limited due to the long time that is needed for their installation and curing. This is especially true for floor surfaces exposed to 24-hour vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Or floors in industrial plants and warehouses, where it impossible to have a break of several days in order to install and cure floor system components.

Main Advantages

The speed of installation and curing is exactly the reason why polyaspartate coatings stand out, as several layers can be applied in one day. This enables the quick full use of floor surfaces as well as saves time and money. In addition to this important advantage over conventional floor coatings, polyaspartate floor coatings are strong, flexible, durable and resistant to abrasion, UV radiation and chemicals and they bind firmly to the substrate.

Additionally, unlike conventional polyurethane (PU) coatings, PAS coatings are applied directly to the concrete substrate, and they are more durable and more resistant to scratches, impact and breakage compared to epoxy coatings. It is important to note that PAS coatings are solvent-free, which means that no volatile organic compunds (VOC) found in solvents are released during curing.

The main advantages of polyaspartate coatings for interior and exterior use:

  • quick curing (2 hours),
  • solvent-free (100% dry matter by volume),
  • UV stability,
  • compatible with various substrates (PU, EP, ++),
  • application directly onto concrete.

The listed advantages ensure wide application possibilities, from the resurfacing of public garages, industrial plants and warehouses to decorative flooring in public and private spaces (photo flooring) and the protection of concrete in low-rise buildings.

FLOOR EXPERT PAS 311 HE

The product is a two-component solvent-free topcoat based on polyaspartate resin.

It is applied as a finishing coat on Floor expert EP and PU floor systems that are exposed to external influences or as a pigmented topcoat in public garages, industrial plants, laboratories, showrooms, warehouses, workshops and other similar applications. In addition to all the advantages of the PAS coating technology listed above, the product has a hard elastic film that is resistant to wear and tear, scratches and the effects of chemicals. As with most 2K floor coatings, we recommend that the PAS floor systems be installed by professionals with experience in this field of application. Before applying the coating, we recommend a mechanical treatment of the substrate (sanding and/or grinding), in order to remove bulges, poorly adhered surface layers and surface dirt. Cracks, pores and uneven parts should be filled with a suitable material. Use a vacuum cleaner or brush to remove dust and loose parts. During installation and drying, you must ensure that the application conditions are within the following parametres: air and substrate temperature: +10 °C do +30 °C; relative humidity: max: 75% with adequate ventilation. Condensation must not occur (mind the dew point!). We recommend impregnating the substrate with the Floor expert EP 101 epoxy primer. For higher mechanical loads and achieving a slip-resistant floor surface, we recommend composite systems with silica sand. Prepare the material by mixing the components (A+B) with a low speed electric mixer until it becomes a homogenous mixture. The working time of the mixture (A+B) is 25 minutes under normal conditions. Apply the material with a rubber smoothing trowel and a short-bristle roller in criss-cross strokes. The flooring is ready for pedestrians two hours after application and completely firm after 5 days. The consumption of the material is 0.4-0.9 kg/m2, depending on the roughness of the substrate.

The Floor expert PAS 311 HE finishing coat is high gloss and can be tinted to different tones according to the RAL colour chart.

FLOOR EXPERT PAS transparent

It is a transparent, fast-bonding, UV-stable, solvent-free polyaspartate topcoat. It forms a waterproof, seamless membrane.

It is suitable as a final protective coating on indoor and outdoor floor systems, such as:

  • systems with a decorative quartz aggregate (stone carpet),
  • systems with decorative veneers and
  • industrial flooring in warehouses, laboratories, showrooms, garages, etc.

It can also be used as a binder for systems with a decorative quartz aggregate (stone carpet) or decorative flakes.

It is mechanically resistant, UV-stable and resistant to abrasions and chemicals. The treatment of the concrete substrate, the preparation of the material and the application conditions are the same as with Floor expert PAS 311 HE. Polyaspartate coatings are very sensitive to moisture, therefore special attention should be paid to the relative humidity and the dew point during the application and curing of the coating. The working time of the mixture (A+B) is 25 minutes under normal conditions. The floor is ready for traffic as soon as 5 hours after application, and it is completely dry after 5 days. The use and consumption of this coating depend significantly on the decorative technique used, be it a stone carpet, a transparent coating on concrete and floor systems or the so-called photo floor coverings.

Innovative solution

Polyaspartate coatings are an innovative solution in the world of protective coatings. Their properties, like fast drying, high firmness and resistance, put them at the forefront in the protection of various surfaces. Their environmental safety and ease of use have made them a favorite choice in many different industries. As this technology develops, it will be interesting to see how polyaspartate coatings continue to evolve and improve.
